When To Keep Your Child Home From School

Oregon Department of Education makes guidance around when students need to stay home after being sick, and all school districts in Oregon are required to follow this same guidance. In particular, something that has changed in the post-pandemic era is the switch from 24 hours to 48 hours symptom-free after vomiting or diarrhea. See below:

Vomiting:  May return 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting OR after being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider.

Diarrhea (3 watery or loose stools in one day with or without fever):  May return after 48 hours after diarrhea resolves OR after being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider.

Dental Clinic (Round 2) Returning this Week…
The Lane County Dental Prevention Team is returning this week to provide round 2 of fluoride varnish and sealant to students whose parents turned in signed permission forms in the fall. REMINDER: Parking Lot Procedures

At morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, drivers should follow the one-way direction traffic flow indicated in the map below.

Additionally, take note of the following rules for pause parking:

• Drivers must remain in their cars at all times.
• Drivers should pull forward as space becomes available.
• Drivers should NOT stop in marked crosswalk areas.
• When getting in or out of a car, students must use the door on the sidewalk side. Students should never get in or out of a vehicle on the driver’s side. It’s unsafe for the student and it slows traffic.
• Drivers must remember to ALWAYS yield at the painted crosswalks and sidewalks.

Learn to Ride a Bike – A Free, All Ages, Drop-In Event! – Click here for flyer

Thursday, March 9 stop by anytime between 4:00-6:00pm, Bob Keefer Center, 250 S 32nd St, Springfield, OR

Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? We’ll start with balancing and gliding without pedals or training wheels. Some will learn to pedal in one session, while others may need more practice to reach that final goal.

Join Willamalane; 4J, Bethel and Springfield Safe Routes to School programs; the City of Eugene; the City of Springfield and Shift Community Cycles for this fun event with pedal-powered smoothies, bike checks, information about bike share, and workshops for families and individuals of all ages on biking for transportation.

You don’t need your own bike to participate, but please bring a helmet and bike if you have one. Contact Safe Routes to School at (541) 228-0699 or jack.blashchishen@springfield.k12.or.us with questions or to volunteer.

 

REPEAT: Student/Family Directory Coming Soon

Holt is going to create a good old-fashioned Student Directory for families, so students and parents are able to connect with one another.

The directory will be sorted by classroom and will include:

• Student name
• Parent name
• Parent email
• Parent telephone number

We already have on file any families who opted out of releasing Student Directory Information when you first enrolled.

REPEAT: 2023 Electronics Recycling Competition!

Have any old electronics collecting dust? If it has a plug or takes batteries, and whether it’s working or not, just drop them off at NextStep (245 Jackson St.) between February 1 and April 30th (making sure you tell them it’s for Holt) or drop them off at the collection site in front of the office the week of March 20th to 24th.

Cell phones, monitors, computers, phones, cables, etc. we’ll take it all!

The school with the most “e-waste” collected wins a $500 gift certificate and a Next Step Robot made by a local artist. Holt won this competition in the past, so let’s see if we can win again!

Cuándo dejar a su hijo en casa

El Departamento de Educación de Oregon ofrece orientación sobre cuándo los estudiantes deben quedarse en casa después de estar enfermos, y todos los distritos escolares de Oregon deben seguir esta misma orientación. En particular, algo que ha cambiado en la era pospandémica es el cambio de 24 horas a 48 horas sin síntomas después de vomitar o tener diarrea. Véase más abajo:

Vómitos:  Puede volver 48 horas después del último episodio de vómitos O después de haber sido visto y autorizado por un profesional sanitario autorizado.

Diarrea (3 deposiciones acuosas o blandas en un día con o sin fiebre):  Puede volver 48 horas después de que desaparezca la diarrea O después de que un profesional sanitario autorizado le haya dado el visto bueno.

RECORDATORIO: Procedimientos para el estacionamiento

A la llegada por la mañana y a la salida por la tarde, los conductores deberán seguir el flujo de tráfico en un solo sentido indicado en el siguiente mapa.

Además, tome nota de las siguientes reglas para el estacionamiento de pausa:

• Los conductores deben permanecer en sus coches en todo moment.
• Los conductores deben avanzar a medida que haya espacio disponible.
• Los conductores NO deben detenerse en las zonas de paso de peatones señalizadas.
• Al entrar o salir de un coche, los estudiantes deben usar la puerta del lado de la acera.
• Los estudiantes nunca deben subir o bajar de un vehículo por el lado del conductor. Es inseguro para el estudiante y ralentiza el tráfico.
• Los conductores deben recordar ceder SIEMPRE el paso en los pasos de peatones y aceras pintados.

¿Usted o su hijo quieren aprender a andar en bicicleta? Recibe instrucciones y la práctica necesaria para balancear. Comenzaremos con el equilibrio y el deslizamiento sin pedales ni ruedas de entrenamiento. Algunos aprenderán a pedalear en una sola sesión, mientras que otros pueden necesitar más práctica para alcanzar ese objetivo final.

¡Aprovecha la oportunidad y ven al evento! El último boletín Parnet 4J incluye una sección para que las familias den su opinión sobre las prioridades presupuestarias del 4J.

¿Debe 4J centrarse en la reducción de tamaño de las clases o deben centrarse en apoyar las iniciativas de la Oficina de Equidad, Inclusión e Instrucción?
