Holt Provides supervision between the hours of 7:25 am and 2:35 pm and during official school events and programs that occur before and after school. If you are interested in after-school child care or other after-school enrichment opportunities, please see below.
What the YMCA has to offer you and your student:
Through a fee-based program, all Holt students have the opportunity to take part in after-school child care. Kids arrive at our programs with energetic staff and fun activities. Crazy holidays, character development, movement, and healthy choices are the focuses of our school-age program.

We are pleased to announce that chess club will be offered at Holt on Wednesday, 1:10 to 2:10 PM, in the library starting October 4th. The instructor will be Jerry Ramey, who has 30 years of experience teaching chess to Eugene kids. Beginners are welcome! More experienced players are also welcome! Equal time will be given to lessons and games. Students can try the club out before paying the tuition, but please fill out the registration form on the Southside Chess Website.
Beginning Strings – for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders!
Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) offers your children a chance to learn the violin, viola, or cello – and they provide the instrument to take home! Accessible, affordable classes are held right here at Holt. Classes meet twice a week after school, Wednesdays (1:15-2:00) and Fridays (2:30-3:15) in the music room.

There are so many benefits! Students gain self-confidence, discipline, cooperation, and the sheer joy of making music together. They perform for their schools, and twice a year, the strings students from different classes come together to play their concerts and show what they’ve learned to family and friends.
