A Message from the Holt Parent Group!
Hello Holt Elementary families! Welcome back to school!
Since this may be the first time hearing about our Holt Parent Group (PTO) for some of you, it’s important for me to explain what the Holt PTO is all about.
What is Holt Parent Group (PTO) and what does it mean to be involved?
The primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and benefit the school. We do this by fundraising. Our second objective is to provide opportunities and events for families to spend time together in a safe, cost-effective environment. The PTO meets once a month and we’d love to have you join us! Coming to a meeting does not mean you automatically have to sign up to volunteer. It means you support our group and believe in what we are doing.
What events are funded and organized by the Holt Parent Group?

As you can see we are a small and busy group. This is where you come in! We need your help and so do your children. We are in need of growth and are seeking volunteers to continue re-establishing the organization. We have planned some exciting events this year in hopes of getting more parents involved in their children’s education. The PTO is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own.
Please come to our first introductory meeting on September 14th at 6 p.m. to learn more (held in the school library)!
If you already know you would like to volunteer at some point throughout the year please start by filling out the 4J Background Check. As it is required to volunteer at events and can sometimes take a few weeks to complete. Attendance Matters – Start the School Year Right
Getting into the habit of daily attendance is more important than ever. Sending your child to school regularly helps to:
- Build routines that help reduce stress.
- Make it easier to connect with friends and teachers.
- Support learning.
When students attend regularly (missing no more than one day a month), they are much more likely to read proficiently by third grade, do well in middle school, and be on track to graduate from high school.

After School Chess Club – Sign up now for an After School Chess Club at Holt at Holt on Thursdays, 2:30 to 3:30 PM, starting September 21st. Students can try the club out before paying the tuition.
Volunteering Background Check Info – Completed the Volunteer Background Check if you’d like to volunteer at Holt this year.
Holt Spirit Gear Orders Due Sept. 20th – The Holt School Apparel Store will be open until September 20th. Orders will be delivered to the Holt two weeks later.
Class Assignments – Class lists will be emailed to families on the afternoon of Friday, September 1st, just before Labor Day weekend.
Meet Your Teacher, Tuesday, Sept. 5th, 2:00-3:00 – After you meet your teacher, have some Kona Ice on the playground starting at 2:30!
New! Kindergarten Smart Start – Kindergarten families should visit the 4J Kindergarten Smart Start Website for which days to attend the first two weeks of school. Additional info can be found on the Holt Kindergarten Information Webpage. and on the 4J Kindergarten Information Webpage.
School Supplies – Just bring a backpack and water bottle.

Morning Breakfast – Breakfast service begins at 7:30 and ends at 7:50. After they finish, students should walk to their Grade-Level Entrance.
Dismissal Procedures – See the linked Dismissal Map for where to pick up non-bus riders.
Curbside Pausing Parking Reminders – ONLY pick up and drop off along the curb, not in the pullout lanes.

Mensaje del Grupo de Padres de Holt
¡Hola familias de Holt Elementary! ¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a la escuela!
Ya que esta puede ser la primera vez que escuchen acerca de nuestro Grupo de Padres de Holt (PTO) para algunos de ustedes, es importante para mi explicarles de que se trata el PTO de Holt.
¿Que es el Grupo de Padres de Holt (PTO) y que significa estar involucrado?
El objetivo principal como PTO es proveer a nuestra escuela con fondos, programas, recursos y servicios que enriquecerán y maximizarán la educación de cada niño y beneficiarán a la escuela. Para ello, recaudamos fondos. Nuestro segundo objetivo es proporcionar oportunidades y eventos para que las familias pasen tiempo juntos en un ambiente seguro y rentable. El PTO se reúne una vez al mes y ¡nos encantaría que se uniera a nosotros! Venir a una reunión no significa que automáticamente tengas que apuntarte como voluntario. Significa que apoyas a nuestro grupo y crees en lo que estamos haciendo.
¿Qué eventos son financiados y organizados por el Grupo de Padres de Holt?
Algunos de los programas que apoyamos y/o patrocinamos son:
- Bingo de disfraces
- Semana de agradecimiento a los profesores
- Holt Bolt (jog-a-thon)
- Centavos escolares
- Ferias del libro Scholastic
- Rincón del libro
- Carnaval de primavera
- y muchos más.
Hazte voluntario… ¡Por qué deberías participar!
Como puedes ver, somos un grupo pequeño y muy ocupado. ¡Aquí es donde entras tú! Necesitamos su ayuda y también la de sus hijos. Necesitamos crecer y estamos buscando voluntarios para continuar restableciendo la organización. Hemos planeado algunos acontecimientos emocionantes este año en esperanzas de conseguir a más padres implicados en la educación de sus niños. El PTO es un esfuerzo de equipo en el que no podemos tener éxito por nuestra cuenta.
¡Por favor, venga a nuestra primera reunión introductoria el 14 de septiembre a las 6 p.m. para aprender más (que se celebra en la biblioteca de la escuela)!
Si ya sabes que te gustaría ser voluntario en algún momento del año, empieza por rellenar la verificación de antecedentes 4J. Ya que es necesario para ser voluntario en los eventos y, a veces puede tardar unas semanas en completarse. La asistencia es importante – Empezar bien el curso escolar
Adquirir el hábito de la asistencia diaria es más importante que nunca. Enviar a su hijo al colegio con regularidad ayuda a:
- Crear rutinas que ayudan a reducir el estrés.
- Facilitar la relación con amigos y profesores.
- Favorecer el aprendizaje.
Cuando los alumnos asisten con regularidad (no faltan más de un día al mes), tienen muchas más probabilidades de leer con soltura en tercer curso, obtener buenos resultados en secundaria y graduarse en bachillerato.
